Your strategy is driven by whatever is the hype du jour.
Your keel is an inch deep (which is to say, you go "whichever way the wind blows")
You think you have selected the best-in-class tools - because some expensive false prophet industry analyst says so.
But, you labor within a twisted web of lies...some of which you spin to yourself.
You have traded insight and competence - for silver bullets and magical cures, that are not.
You have forgotten what it means to think critically.
You have sacrificed your skills upon the alter of the twin false gods of efficiency and cost savings - by offloading, outsourcing, offshoring those critical skills and expertise that are core to building products & services that could have differentiated you in the marketplace.
You no longer know how to build from scratch.
You have ransomed your corporation's soul to a mafia of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS vendors.
You are led astray, like lemmings over a cliff.
You no longer have the skill to recognize the songs of the grifters.
You go through the motions of activity - but no value is created by your frantic efforts.
Your pivots are more like the the flailings of a drunk tech bro stumbling through the Mission District on a Saturday night.
Your choices are driven by short-term goals to appease quarterly reporting - and your feverish need to ensure your bonus, not what is best for your company.
You use metrics to shield yourself - but in time, the truth will be revealed.
But you will be long-gone. The devastation of your poor choices - left in your wake.
Like paper mache, you cloak yourself in practices, processes, governance, KPIs, OKRs, and abstract and meaningless industry buzzword frameworks.
But you do not touch the essence.
Underneath the glistening front of appearances, there is much that is just rot. You play a part on a stage - but lack the substance to execute and deliver.
The foundations upon which you stand are not stone - but merely shifting sand.
